International Trail Running Association
Created in July 2013, the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) mission is to promote trail running at the international level as a sport, accessible to all, rich in its diversity of cultures and places of practice. ATRA's Richard Bolt was on the ITRA steering committee from 2016 to 2018.

US Mountain Running Team
US Mountain Running Team athletes have represented the US at World Championships since 1987. ATRA conducts fundraising for the US Mountain & Trail Running Teams and has raised more than $150,000 for the athletes since 2001. To make a tax-deductible donation, send a check made out to the American Trail Running Association with "USMRT" in the memo field to PO Box 9454, Colorado Springs, CO 80932. ATRA is a non profit 501(c)3 corporation.

World Mountain Running Association
Recognized by World Athletics, the WMRA is the official international governing body of mountain running. The WMRA's mission is to stage and sanction international mountain running championships for elite, youth and masters athletes. ATRA executive director Nancy Hobbs is a WMRA council member. ATRA's Richard Bolt is the USA representative to the annual WMRA Congress Meeting.

Collegiate Running Association
ATRA works with the Collegiate Running Association to increase exposure and awareness for trail and mountain running among college athletes. The Collegiate Running Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded November, 2013 with a mission to promote healthy lifestyles among college students by providing and expanding opportunities in the sport of running.

USA Track & Field
USA Track & Field (USATF) is the National Governing Body for track & field, long-distance running and race walking in the United States. A division of the Long Distance Running (LDR) Committee, the Mountain, Ultra & Trail (MUT) Council oversees 7 national teams and a dozen national championship races within USATF. ATRA executive director Nancy Hobbs is chair of the MUT Council. ATRA's Richard Bolt is a member of the MUT Council Executive Committee.

International Skyrunning Federation
The International Skyrunning Federation (ISF) represents the governing authority of skyrunning – mountain running above 2,000 meters over extremely technical trails. Three disciplines define the sport which are not just based on distance, but vertical climb and technical difficulty: Sky, Ultra and Vertical. ATRA is an ISF associate member.
